In Verona Italy, Al Condominio restaurant has a unique offer: trade your phone for a free bottle of wine. Owner Angelo Lella hopes to foster a tech-free dining experience where guests can enjoy each other's company. Diners can lock their phones upon arrival and retrieve them with a key while claiming their complimentary wine.
For an added incentive, patrons can leave reviews in the phone box for a chance to win a free meal. Lella reports a positive response, saying 90% of customers are opting for wine over phones. “It really is a beautiful thing to see people embracing it,” Lella says.
