Selena Gomez's Mom Sounds Off On Justin Bieber Reunion, And She's Not Happy

Word of a rift between Selena Gomez and her mother/former manager, Mandy Teefey, did not please her fanbase, especially when it reportedly stemmed from the pop titan's reunion with Justin Bieber. Now, months since the reunion, Teefey has come forward to publically admit that she is indeed not happy that her daughter has reconciled with the Biebster.

In a new statement to Gossip Cop, Teefey revealed she is "not happy" with the pair's latest reunion, but ultimately wants her daughter to live her life in peace and harmony. "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy," Teefey said of her daughter, adding that she herself hasn't had any communication with Bieber in years. "She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices."

However, Teefey wants Selenators to know that their rift never widened after she and her husband stopped managing Gomez in 2014. "Every mother and daughter has disagreements," she said. "We never expected to manage her her whole life. We lost family time because the only time we saw her, we talked business. It was no longer fun for any of us, like it was when she was younger and we had to be with her because she was a minor."

In late December, fans noticed that the mother and daughter had unfollowed each other. It was an observation noticed shortly after Gomez's romantic reunion with Bieber went public. As TMZ reported, Mandy had to be taken to a hospital at a family member's request because discussions about Bieber got heated. TMZ reported that she was taken to a nearby hospital to get checked out, but not under a 5150 hold. She was voluntarily transported for treatment.
