Demi Lovato Urges Fans To Vote: Nothing Will Change Unless You Take Action

Demi Lovato shared a powerful message on the importance of voting.

On Monday (October 26), the “Tell Me You Love Me” singer encouraged her millions of followers to get out and make their voices heard by voting in the upcoming election to effect changes they want to see.

“I vote because I love my country. From my friends and family members who live here, to my neighbors and millions of people I don’t know, I love the citizens here,” Lovato captioned a selfie of her casting her vote at the polls. “This year I’ve been so stressed and anxious from politics alone. This post isn’t about telling you [who] to vote for, it’s about telling you to vote PERIOD.”

“I want to know that whatever the outcome is, we raised our voices and spoke up for what we wanted. And if change is what you want, nothing will change unless you take action,” the musician urged. “So please, if you are old enough, please get out there and speak up. P.S. I’m so grateful to have been able to vote because it wasn’t too long ago women didn’t even have those rights.. (see what happens when we demand change? 😜☺️) 🙏🏼🇺🇸❤️🤍💙”

The pop star's motivational message on voting comes just weeks after she left fans divided for expressing her political stance on her new song “Commander in Chief.” Some of Lovato's supporters took the song as a blatant callout to President Donald Trump, whom the songstress criticizes for his responses to the coronavirus pandemic and acts of racial injustice.

The day after its release, Lovato made headlines when NBC seemingly censored her live-debut performance of the politically-charged ballad at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.
