A new study shows that guys with high testosterone levels have a tendency to think they’re right, even when they most definitely are not. While everyone does this sometimes, those with more of this hormone do it more than the rest of us with less of it – so women, basically.
"What we found was the testosterone group was quicker to make snap judgments on brain teasers where your initial guess is usually wrong,” explains Caltech professor Colin Camerer, who worked on the study. “The testosterone is either inhibiting the process of mentally checking your work or increasing the intuitive feeling that 'I'm definitely right."
It turns out, testosterone increases people’s confidence. And when you’re feeling more confident, you don’t have enough self-doubt to correct mistakes, Camerer says. So as annoying as it is when your man refuses to admit he’s wrong when you know he is, it’s not all his fault, according to science.
