Foods For Better Skin And Hair

If your skin, nails, and hair need a little TLC, a few small tweaks to your diet could help. Here are some superfoods you should add to your shopping list to improve your strands and your complexion, according to Karena and Katrina, founders of fitness and wellness site Tone It Up.

Strengthen hair with portobello mushrooms - Boost your vitamin D intake to stimulate hair follicle growth and prevent hair loss, and portobello mushrooms are a great plant-based source. Add more of them to your summer menu and grow those mermaid locks you’ve been dreaming of.

Fight breakouts with Brazil nuts - It’s the selenium in these that helps decrease acne. And brazil nuts are the highest natural source of it. In fact, they have so much selenium, you shouldn’t eat more than two a day.

Prevent cellular damage with aloe vera - While it’s not the tastiest thing you can drink, it is really amazing for your skin. So think of it as a skin-brightening shot, or throw some in a smoothie and your skin will thank you.

Heal skin with garlic - Being low in antioxidants could be the reason for your breakouts, but eating raw garlic could help. It contains the sulfur compound allicin, which is a strong antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory properties, and using the garlic raw, instead of cooked gets you more of the good stuff.
