July is National Ice Cream month and it’s safe to say Americans love to indulge in such creamy goodness, especially in the summer, although let’s face it, ice cream is good anytime of year.
Overall, Americans eat an average of 48 pints of ice cream per year, with 98% of all U.S. households buying Ice cream, and 87% of folks having ice cream in their freezer at any given time.
As for what they’re buying, the most popular flavor in the U.S. is Vanilla, followed by Chocolate, Cookies 'n Cream, Strawberry and Mint Chocolate Chip. And let’s not forget the toppings, with chocolate syrup being the most popular.
Finally, no matter how much ice cream is in a bowl it’s likely never enough for most of us, with 10% admitting they lick the bowl clean after eating their ice cream. And ice cream fandom isn’t just for humans. Believe it or not, 20% of Americans say they share their ice cream with their pet.
