You’ve probably seen the adorable photos of Prince George on his first day of school yesterday by now and if not, let me tell you - that’s one cute kid. But did you ever wonder what His Royal Highness will go by at school? Yeah, we know his name is George, but what’s his last name?
When Prince Harry and Prince William joined they used the names Harry Wales and William Wales, since their father is the Prince of Wales. But the Royal Family has a different official surname: Mountbatten-Windsor. This is a combination of Queen Elizabeth’s name - Windsor - and Prince Philip’s last name - Mountbatten - from before he became Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
But this little four-year-old prince will be known as George Cambridge at school. And that’s because his parents are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and his official title is Prince George of Cambridge. So it all makes sense and this little royal has a last name just like everyone else in his class.
