These days, most people literally don’t go anywhere without relying on a navigation app, but it’s no secret that some apps are better than others. Folks have definite opinions about which apps they prefer to use to get them from one place to another, and a new survey reveals which ones are favored by most people.
According to a survey by The Manifest, Google Maps is by far the favorite navigation app. In fact, 67% of people prefer to use Google Maps for their directions, which is six times more than the second-most popular navigation app, Waze, which gets 12% of the vote. Apple Maps is just slightly behind Waze with 11%, while Mapquest is only favored by 8% of people. As for why they love their favored app, 25% say it’s because it provides clear and better directions.
Overall, 77% of folks use navigation apps, with 90% of smartphone users saying they primarily use it for driving. Interestingly, more people in the Northeast use navigation apps for non-driving directions, like cycling, walking and public transportation. Specifically, 24% of those in the Northeast use navigation apps for non-driving directions, while only 12% in the Midwest and West, and 8% in the South use them for something other than driving.
