Couple Gets Married In a Blizzard

You can’t control the weather, even on your wedding day, so one Rhode Island couple embraced it, taking the phrase “the show must go on” to the extreme. Sally and Adam Irujo had Saturday, January 29th circled on their calendar for more than a year, so they weren’t going to let a little snow stop their wedding.

This wasn’t just a little bit of snow. It’s fourth-largest blizzard in Providence history! And Sally and Adam had an outdoor wedding planned … in New England … in January. And the couple kept their plan, trekking with bundled up loved ones through ice and snow to reach the steps of the Providence Public Library, where the ceremony took place.

Snow was falling as the couple said “I do” and the bride wore a white veil, along with her snow boots. They were surrounded by friends and family, who braved the conditions to see the happy moment. And while it wasn’t exactly the event they had planned, they were thrilled to keep January 29th as their wedding date. “We have a few cutting boards with this date on it, a couple mugs, and a marriage license with it on it,” Sally says. And the new Mr. and Mrs. were back at the library on Sunday for their official wedding ceremony, and this one was inside.
