A Florida woman got a big surprise when she tried to withdraw $20 from her Chase Bank account through an ATM. Before making the withdrawal, Julia Yonkowski decided to check her balance. The ATM receipt showed her account had $999,985,855.94 in it, and she says she was horrified. She tried to go ahead and withdraw $20, but the ATM told her a $20 withdrawal would cause an overdraft, so she left without it.
Why was she horrified to find she was almost a billionaire? “I’ve read stories about people that took the money and then they had to repay it,” she said. Instead of going on a shopping spree, Yonkowski saw the error as nothing but trouble, and she’s now scared of losing the money that is hers to cybercriminals.
