Meat From A Lab Is Coming

For the first time, the Food and Drug Administration has given its approval for a meat product grown in a lab from animal cells to be sold for human consumption. UPSIDE Foods, which makes chicken by taking cells from live animals and using them to grow meat in stainless-steel tanks, will be able to bring its product to market after an inspection by the USDA.

This isn’t an unexpected development in the world of food production; the USDA and the FDA regulate cell-cultured meat together under an agreement made in 2019. Alternatives to farmed meat have reportedly grown with more awareness of livestock's high greenhouse gas
