Teen Sends Socks To Senior Citizens

Elle Gianelli of Stockton, California, has a special connection with her grandmother – which has inspired her to put smiles on the faces of other senior citizens as well. Elle – who is currently a high school junior – started a project called Socks 4 Seniors back when she was in 7th grade. The idea was to make colored socks with silly designs -- and then send those socks to seniors in nursing and care homes to brighten up their day. Thanks to her imagination and hard work, Socks 4 Seniors now sends "silly" socks to 92 care homes in 48 states.

Thanks to her imagination and hard work, Socks 4 Seniors now sends "silly" socks to 92 care homes in 48 states. As we get closer to Christmas, Elle has a goal of sending boxes of silly socks to seniors in all 50 states in time for the big day. “I know they have Toys for Tots and things for kids you know and you always seem to forget about seniors,” Elle said. But Elle is doing all she can to make sure seniors are staying warm and – most importantly – unforgotten during holiday season.
