Earlier this week, American swimmer Ryan Murphy experienced a memorable moment at the Paris 2024 Olympics. After winning a bronze medal in the men’s 100-meter backstroke on Monday, his wife, Bridget, revealed that they were expecting a baby girl by holding up a sign that read, "Ryan it’s a girl!" The good news added to the excitement of his achievement, making the night even more special.

Murphy, who already has six Olympic medals from the 2016 and 2020 Games, describes the moment as unforgettable, especially with the message from his wife elevating the experience. He was thrilled to finish his race on such a high note, both professionally and personally.

Originally from Chicago, the 29-year-old Olympian grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where he dreamed of competing in the Olympics from an early age. He and Bridget were married last September and now the couple is expecting their daughter in January. Murphy shares that he’s excited about becoming a father, but acknowledges that his priorities are likely going to shift from swimming to his growing family.
