In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the "Peanuts" comic strip, over 80 farms across the U.S. and Canada have created Peanuts-themed corn mazes featuring the strip’s iconic characters like Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and Linus. The intricate designs, in states from California to New York, as well as the province of Ontario, are expected to attract millions of visitors.
Brett Herbst, leader of The MAiZE Inc, the largest corn maze consulting company, helped design and create the mazes and shares that even though the maze planning is done by computer, most of the maze creation is still done by hand. Over the years, his team has crafted mazes featuring numerous famous faces and themes and he says that the nostalgic charm of "Peanuts" characters is a great fit for the seasonal attraction. Plus, the mazes aren’t just visually impressive, they’re also a true maze experience where visitors can get pleasantly lost.
"Peanuts," which debuted on October 2, 1950, has left a lasting cultural impact. Jill Schulz, daughter of "Peanuts" creator Charles M. Schulz, says corn mazes likewise have a timeless appeal. She hopes the collaboration will bring joy to fans of all ages and help give families an opportunity to enjoy some old-fashioned fun and make some lasting memories.
