A Florida man who is commonly known around his neighborhood as the most annoying neighbor ever, just did something to further solidify that distinction.
For 25 years, Alan Davis has been racking up code violations for a collection of junk piled high on his property. The locals call him the "junk man." The town keeps citing him the mounds of scrap metal, rusted appliances, junked cars, and even the fuselage of an airplane of on his front lawn. The violations have added up to over $5.4 million in fines, which he has refused to pay. He argues that he is exercising his First Amendment rights and he has no plans to stop. In fact, he recently commemorated the 25th anniversary of his first code violation by installing a six-foot tall fiberglass sculpture of human buttocks.
Davis says the sculpture sends a message to his neighbors and county officials that keep citing him. He says, "You can all kiss my (butt)," adding, “I pile it up intentionally to aggravate them.” The 69-year-old who says, "I've been a renegade all my life," adds that "Freedom has a look. This is what it looks like. This is freedom."
