Pizza Hut is bringing back its beloved BOOK IT! program with a “Summer of Stories” twist, letting kids in pre-K through 6th grade earn free personal pan pizzas for hitting reading goals between June 1st and August 31st. Parents and teachers can sign kids up starting today (May 1st) through the BOOK IT! app, and participants can redeem monthly reading certificates for pizza rewards (yes, the student has to be there for the celebration).
The program, which dates back to the 1980s, originally used pizza parties to motivate kids to read and exploded in popularity, reaching millions of students nationwide. Now, it’s tapping into nostalgia while encouraging a new generation to crack open books, and sparking calls for an adult version too.
