Finn Wolfhard's Band the Aubreys Share New Single 'Karaoke Alone'

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and his band the Aubreys are returning with the title single off their upcoming debut studio album, Karaoke Alone. Arriving as the first single from the album, "Karaoke Alone" creates a soothing indie beat while the lyrics pull on the isolated feelings found through the lockdown.

While the album is not explicitly about the COVID-19 pandemic and 18-month lockdowns, with an album titled Karaoke Alone, the theme is inescapable. "In the dead of a dream/ I woke up to my car/ On the side of a highway/ How'd I get this far?/ Karaoke alone," Wolfhard sings in the track, aiming to get a grasp of his surroundings. The instrumentals take on a dreamy essence themselves, creating a track that struggles for a hold on reality as its elements get pulled into an isolated slumber.

"While recording we experimented with a lot of new and old sounds, but we went in with no expectations other than to have fun and make a wicked album," Wolfhard and his bandmate, Malcom Craig said in a statement. "And we think we succeeded."

Karaoke Alone will arrive on November 5 and was written as the Stranger Things star and Craig used text and voice memos to trade ideas while they remained isolated from one another in compliance with lockdown orders. Eventually, the two met up in Chicago to record the record with Twin Peaks' Cadien Lake James and Colin Croom and Andrew Humphreys.

"Karaoke Alone" arrives as the Aubrey's first single since February's "Sand In My Bed." The band released one EP, Soda & Pie, only days before the initial COVID-19 lockdowns began. Stream "Karaoke Alone" through iHeartRadio here.
