After registering a slew of new songs with ASCAP earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar added fuel to the rumor mill that his upcoming album is on the way. However, these days, K. Dot seems to be more focused on making his artists hot instead of dropping his fifth studio album.
The DAMN rapper once again joined cousin Baby Keem on two new tracks, entitled "range brothers"and "vent", marking the Compton King's official return to music. Both songs are featured on Keem's new album The Melodic Blue, along with the Hip Hop cousins' previously released single "family ties" — which was Kendrick's first verse in over a year.
Though recently released, "range brothers" has already made it's round on social media after fans dragged K. Dot over his bizarre adlibs on the record, including "top of the morning" and "she's hot". But Keem seemed unfazed by the critics. He took to Twitter to gush about his latest project, saying,
My art is 99.9% feeling and .1% technicality. the world will feel it soon come. the people. The Melodic Blue
Success seems to follow the 20-year old emcee whose single, whose collaborative record, "family ties", with cousin Kendrick entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 18, earning the young artist his first top 40 hit and Lamar’s highest-charting song since 2018.
The Melodic Blue is the follow-up project to Keem's 2019 mixtape Die For Me and hosts less than a handful of features, including Travis Scott who let's loose on the SuperDuperBrick produced track "durag activity", and Don Oliver who makes an appearance on "cocoa".
