Don't Accidentally Throw Your Stimulus Money Away

Tax refund check from US Treasury and US currency 100 dollar bills

People are mistaking their stimulus payment for junk and throwing it in trash. Why? Because it's in a plain white envelope with no federal marks. It only says "Money Network Cardholder Services." And there's no check inside.

The IRS sent out nearly four million prepaid debit cards instead last week and if you don’t know what to look for, chances are you’d toss it, like this man in North Carolina.

Politico editor Zack Stanton was one of several who took to social media to tell how he almost threw his payment out because it look suspicious. Others complained it looked like a credit card offer.

If you think you threw yours out, you’ll have to take it up with the IRS.
