Bill Pullman Is Our Favorite Movie President

Whatever your politics, it seems we can all support a fake president. He (or she) always seems to know the right thing to do. Of course sometimes the president is treacherous (think Kevin Spacey in "House of Cards") or comically incompetent (like Julia Louis-Dreyfuss in "Veep") or just plain unlucky (poor Jack Nicholson in "Mars Attacks!"), but mostly a fictional president just always knows the next right thing to do!

There have been some great fake presidents. Martin Sheen as the smart, patriotic Jeb Bartlett of West Wing springs to mind. And Micheal Douglas as the warm, loving widower Andrew Shepard in the American President. . Our favorite though, especially this time of year, has got to be Bill Pullman as Thomas J Whitmore in Independence. President Whitmore is a veteran fighter pilot and that experience sure comes in handy during his administration! And his speech to rally all the pilots during this pivotal scene is the alien invasion version of "they can never take our freedom" speech from Braveheart!

As a bonus, here's a look at (someone's) top ten movie presidents of all time.
