So far 2021 hasn't exactly brought relief from the bad news related to the Covid-19 pandemic. We're still mostly working from home, every trip to the supermarket can be nerve racking, and most of us haven't seen extended family in months and months.
Now comes the news that the St Patrick's Day parade and road race in Holyoke have been cancelled for 2021. We all remember last year's parade cancellation as the start of a string of changes. Here's hoping this year's missing parade will serve as a bookend for the beginning of the end of all of this.
The news isn't any better for hockey fans in the Commonwealth. The Worcester Railers of the ECHL have already cancelled their season. Now comes the news that the Springfield Thunderbirds have cancelled their season which was set to begin next month. Nate Costa, team president, made it clear in a statement that without any attendance, their simply was no way to continue.
