A great-grandma in California has become the newest model for a beauty line. Helene Simon says she had her doubts when her granddaughter, Laney Crowell, asked her to be the new face of her makeup brand, Saie. But Crowell was persistent and got the entire family involved to convince Simon, better known as Nanna, to her six kids, 11 grandkids and six great-grandkids.
Crowell says it took weeks to change Nanna’s mind and the turning point? That came when she found a photographer who had photographed Nanna’s favorite basketball player, Steph Curry. So at 99, Simon finally agreed and she’s now starring in Saie’s Keep Glowing shoot.
She’s also believed to be one of the oldest makeup models in the world.
"It has been a fun experience and put a little pizzazz in my life," Simon says. "I've enjoyed it — every bit of it." While she’s having a blast getting glam, Crowell says the best part of the experience has been creating lasting memories with her Nanna. Curious about Simon’s secret to looking so good at 99? She says it’s simple: “I try not to worry too much, especially about the small things.”
