A U.S. Marine Corp veteran was able to help stop an armed robbery at a Las Vegas convenience store. The unnamed man was a customer at a Chevron gas station at 4:30am Wednesday when police say three suspects came inside the store, one of them armed with a handgun.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived, they found out that the armed suspect had entered the store, walked over to the veteran and pointed the gun toward the cashier. The vet acted immediately, disarming the suspect within seconds.
Officials with the sheriff’s office report that the other two suspects ran away and the former Marine detained the suspect who had the weapon until police arrived. When they asked him how he was able to take control of the situation, he responded, “The Marine Corp taught me not to mess around.”
