An off-duty corrections officer in Indiana jumped into action to save a young boy who almost drowned while playing in a creek. On April 23rd, Logan Norrod was enjoying Falls Creek Park in Pendleton, Indiana with his wife when he saw a boy in the creek get caught in the current and swept over the falls.

Logan yelled to the boy for him to stand up, but he said he couldn’t and was sinking under the water. Logan’s wife, Emily Norrod, started to tell her husband to go save the boy, but before she could get the words out of her mouth, Logan was already half-way in the water.

Logan got to the boy quickly, wrapped his arms around him, and swam to the shore holding the boy’s head above water. Logan is being hailed a hero, but he says it wasn’t “that big of a deal” and he’d do it again in a heartbeat. “I try to help people the best I can," he says.
