As Juliannys Aviles pulled the blanket off the babyβs face she said βhis eyes were so swollen he couldnβt even open them.β The babyβs skin was cold to the touch with cracks all across it and his face and feet had serious swelling, she added.Β Β Seeing the newborn was in need of serious medical attention, the couple said they immediately called 911.
Springfield police said they believe the baby was left on the coupleβs doorstep sometime Friday night after 9 oβclock. The newborn was presumably sitting in his car seat outside the Aviles residence β in sub-30-degree windy weather β for two days.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Detective Bureau at 413-787-6355. People can also send an anonymous message through the text-a-tip system by texting the word βsolveβ to 274637, followed by the information, Walsh said.
The babyβs mother left a note next to the baby supplies and car seat, the Aviles family said.
βPlease take care of me my mom loves me but she canβt take care of me right now. Please donβt give me up to the state, theyβre bad people.β A message was also written on the back of the note reading, βThank you for taking me in. God bless you.β
