For the last five years, the Moore family from Buffalo, New York, have been fostering Cece. Sheβs lived with them since she was two-months-old and now, 1,954 days later, theyβve finally made her a permanent part of their family. Erie County Family Court recently approved the adoption of the now five-year-old girl.
Ceceβs adoptive mother, Cindy Moore, says the adoption process can be emotional, knowing the child might be going back to their biological parents at any time. But despite the difficulties, Ceceβs new dad, Jeffrey Moore, hopes others will still consider fostering. "I always tell people you take a chance,β he says. βYouβd be surprised, you know, how rewarding it is for both of you and the children in the house."
The Moores have fostered several children over the years, but they are especially excited that Cece is going to stay with the family. "Weβve had very sweet kids come and go through our home, but luckily this one isnβt going anywhere," Cindy says.
