Becky Hoeffler was concerned for her grandfather going to the grocery store, because he’s in the elderly population most at-risk of catching the coronavirus. Since he lives in New Jersey and she’s not there to help him, she’s offering to shop for seniors in her neighborhood instead.
Hoeffler has made grocery store runs for her older neighbors and posted a sign offering her services at a nearby senior living facility. A woman there told her she’s “thankful that she can stop feeling anxious about having to go to the store now.”
“If you’re able to decrease, even by a little bit, the number of patients that have to seek care because they’ve been exposed to something, it’s good for the community as a whole,” Hoeffler explains. “Utilizing people power is one of the best ways that we can combat the virus.”
