Home Haircuts: Tips From A Salon Owner

Chameleons Hair Salon owner Michael Marvin is back to teach some quick at-home haircut tips.

For men, getting your hair cut a couple of weeks late isn't a big deal, but after this long, it's time to do something.

One thing you'll need is the right tools. Don't just go at someone's head with kitchen shears or paper scissors.

Michael pointed out that good barber scissors can be ordered online for a reasonable price. Also, don't forget a real barber comb won't break the bank either. For shorter hair, a set of clippers will be handy and are available for different budgets.

Once you've got these you're ready to go!

Grab a friend and follow along with Michael's tutorial below, then read on for more tips.

Remember for shorter hair, use clippers. And leave the hair dry. You'll want to start with a higher number guard to get a feel for things. You can always go shorter after that.

For longer hair, use scissors, and it helps to wet the hair. A simple spray bottle will come in handy! Your hair grows about a 1/2 inch each month so think about how long it's been since the last haircut and try to cut only that length off.
