Two violent criminals hatched a plan to escape their prison and escape they did. Briefly.
Jose Hernadez and Pablo Rebeto used bed sheets to make a long rope, tied it to the leg of a metal chair, and out they went. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Hernadez fell from the rope around the fourth floor and broke his leg. Rebeto was able to make his way out and it took authorities several hours to track him down.
Now they're both back inside. For a longer stretch than ever.
BTW, when this place open in the early nineties, it was supposedly escape proof. A couple of inmates escaped two weeks after it opened.
