Christopher Bensch, vice president of the Strong National Museum of Play, which houses the Hall, said, "These 12 toys represent the wide scope of playthings-from simple sindewalk chalk to Baby Nancy, which provided a turning point in the representation of race in dolls, to the more recent highly innovative Tamagotchi. Whether old or new or simple or high tech, all 12 of these finalists greatly influenced the world of play.'
Eventually, three from this list will be chosen by a panel of judges and another three will be chosen by the public via the "Players Choice" ballot at toyhalloffame.org
Voting is open now until September 16.
On the flip side, these most dangerous toys of all time will probably never make it into the hall.
