Small Talk Is Stressing People Out

People are excited to hang out with friends and family again and go to parties, but a new study also found people are nervous about some things that never bothered them before.

According to a new Evite survey:

  • While Americans are anxious to spend more time with people again, 38% are concerned about no longer being able to make small talk.
  • The average person says it’s been four months since they had a meaningful conversation.
  • What’s more, 34% believe they’ve become more awkward after spending so much time at home over the past year.

But regardless of that possible awkwardness, it sounds like most Americans are ready to party again.

  • In fact, once the pandemic is officially over, 42% of people plan to throw a huge party.
  • The average person expects to spend about $140 on their first post-COVID night out.
  • What’s more, 36% of people say they plan to go out of their way to attend events they previously avoided.
  • Those dreaded events include:
    • Weddings (44%)
    • Baby showers (34%)
    • Bachelor/bachelorette parties (27%)
