Avery Sanford and her mom got a shocking delivery last month when 80-thousand pennies were dumped on the front lawn of their Richmond home. It turns out, that was the final child support payment from her dad and he decided to give it in the form of coins.
After they collected the change, the 18-year-old and her mom decided to do something helpful with the money. They’re giving every single penny to Safe Harbor, a domestic abuse center.
"Turning around and donating that money to moms and children in need, I feel like that really turns this situation into a positive,” Avery says. “You can learn from it.”
