A customer who ordered a few chili dogs, fried pickle chips and a couple drinks at a New Hampshire restaurant shocked the staff with a huge tip. His tab at the Stumble Inn Bar and Grill in Londonderry was only $37.93 after tax, but he added a $16-thousand tip to go with it!
At first, the staff didn’t even notice, but after the diner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said, “Don’t spend it all in one place,” the server flipped over the check and couldn’t believe her eyes. Restaurant owner Mike Zarella says he thought it was a mistake at first, but the bar manager confirmed with the customer that the amount was indeed correct.
He says the guy isn’t a regular customer and when he was asked, “Are you serious?” by the bartender, he responded, “I want you to have it, you guys work hard.” Zarella says his staff is splitting the tip and even giving a cut to the back of the house employees.
