A jogger in California stopped to alert them to a fire in their home and rescued their pets from the blaze. The Polito family was out of town when their doorbell camera alerted them to someone on their porch. Courtney Polito remotely answered the call and the stranger told them there was smoke coming from their house. She gave the good Samaritan the code to get inside their home to rescue their two dachshunds, rabbit, and cat.

The family says if not for the kind stranger, they would have lost everything. Because of his quick actions, the blaze was largely contained to the garage. "The fire department said 10 more minutes and the house would have been gone," says Courtney. They were amazed that a total stranger would risk his own safety to save their pets. "It takes a special kind of person to go into a burning house to save animals," says Tony Polito.
