John Galvin wouldn’t accept payment after fixing a guitar for Eric Cochrane’s son, the Massachusetts State Lottery said. Instead, Cochrane told him, “If I win $1 million, we are splitting it.”
And he did.
Cochrane’s “$10,000,000 Winter Riches” instant ticket won the two the $1 million prize. Cochrane chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.
The two were presented with a check from the lottery for $461,500 — a big difference from the $40 Cochrane tried to pay him for the service.
