Matthew McConaughey joined a chorus of high-profile names offering their thoughts in the wake of another mass shooting in the United States.
McConaughey’s different from all the others because he grew up in Uvalde, Texas. His mother was an elementary schoolteacher in Uvalde until the family moved away. Matthew was 10 years old when the McConaugheys relocated to Longview, Texas. That's the same age as many of the kids in yesterday’s slaughter.
Matthew McConaughey wrote a lengthy message on social media that said in part (quote) “We have to rearrange our values and find a common ground above this devastating American reality that has tragically become our children’s issue. This is an epidemic we can control.”
