Pumpkins are everywhere now, and you may be excited to buy one and carve it up as part of your Halloween decorations. But you should wait until closer to October 31st to do it. According to MarthaStewart.com, carving your pumpkin exposes the insides to air, which causes your gourd to turn into a moldy mess and attracts bugs and other creepy-crawly things. You have about three to five days after carving before your Jack o' Lantern starts decaying.
