When your child gets invited to a birthday party of a kid whose parents you don’t know, the awkward small talk you’ll have to make is enough to make you RSVP no. But one mom is making sure parents who dread kids’ parties feel better about attending her child’s event by sending out the best birthday party invitation ever.
Nat, a mom who’s son received the invite, shared it on her TikTok praising the birthday kid’s mom for keeping it real. “My son has come home with the most hilarious birthday invitation I have ever seen and I need to share it,” she says in the clip. The invitation to the five-year-old’s party reads:
“This event is brought to you by Pinterest Fails and the Dollar Store, so please set your expectations appropriately.”
“As requested, the theme will be unicorns, but with rainbows and maybe bats, but there should be princesses and also Minnie and we need dancing lights, so dress accordingly.”
It continues, “Please pack a bathing suit, sunscreen, puddle jumpers, etc. in case your sweet baby angels decide our original plan sucks and the pool would be a better time.”
And the best part? The invite offers parents the chance to opt-out of the party themselves. “If you would like to drop off and run, we support you entirely,” it reads. “If you would like to stay, we will provide adult juice and deny any offers to help, to be polite, but deep down, want to support you. You do you.”
The video has gone viral with over 4-million views and thousands of comments from moms who love the no BS birthday invitation. “Needless to say, we will absolutely be attending because these are my people,” Nat says. “This is the kind of mom I can be friends with.” She promises to share an update after the party and we can’t wait to hear it.
