Everyone was captivated last week when a Texas man who had been missing for eight years was found safely, but police now say he was only missing for one day in 2015 and has been at his mother Janie Santana’s house ever since. During a press conference yesterday, Houston Police detectives said that Janie and Rudy Farias IV kept up the idea that he was missing by giving police false names and birth dates, including telling police he was actually Janie’s nephew.
In an affidavit filed as part of a 2011 court case, Janie’s sister, Pauline Sanchez Rodriguez, said her sister “has always been a pathological liar. She lies about everything.” A judge declared Santana’s marriage “null and void” in the case after he determined that she was already married to another man at the time. Police say there are no charges being filed in the case, but the investigation continues.
