For the past six years, J.D. and Kat Tierney have been hosting their annual Blood River Drive Haunted House at their home in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Halloween event has become a local tradition, attracting neighbors from across the area and even visitors from outside of Texas. Despite Kat’s admission that it can be stressful making each year’s event better than the last, the couple are proud of their creation.
Over the years, the popularity of the haunted house has grown, with around 28-hundred people attending last year and over 9-thousand pieces of candy handed out. J.D. hopes they get more than 3-thousand visitors this year. Their haunted house has even been recognized as a top Halloween destination by TheScareFactor.com, a national haunted house directory.
What sets the Blood River Drive Haunted House apart is that it’s completely free for the community. J.D. explains that they made a promise to keep it free as long as it’s in their front yard, aiming to provide a safe and fun place for local teens and families. In addition to the haunted house, the annual event also includes movie screenings in the week leading up to Halloween.
