An elementary school teacher named Kayleigh Sloan has gone viral on TikTok after she covered herself in peanut butter and jelly and made a huge mess in class. No, she wasn't an overtired teacher having a nervous breakdown after nine months of trying to teach 7- and 8-year-olds. She was teaching a writing lesson, and it was brilliant.
Sloan gave the students an assignment to write about how to make a PB&J sandwich. Then, she read some of them aloud and followed the instructions word-for-word to show how important it is to include details in their writing. After reading one of the papers which read, "Put the bread flat. Spread jelly and jam on the bread,” Sloan opened the jar of jelly, scooped out a handful with her bare bands and smeared it on the package of bread.
Another student wrote, "First, you must put on the jelly. Then, you must put on peanut butter.” Sloan followed the instructions to "put on" the jelly and peanut butter, so she scooped them out with her hands and spread each on her arms saying to the class, "OK, it’s on – am I done?”
After the kids roared with laughter and screams, she explained to them the importance of including details in their writing. Her video has racked up over 50 million views.
