Emmalyn Holland, a high school student from Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, has won the Grand Prize Dress category in the Duck Brand Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest. Her entry, a hot pink ball gown made entirely from duct tape, earned her a $15-thousand scholarship. The national competition invites high school students from the U.S. and Canada to create prom outfits from Duck Tape for a chance at scholarship prizes.

Holland spent 176 hours crafting her dress using 31 rolls of duct tape. Her design includes a matching crown and jewelry, and she describes the dress as a representation of her personal journey, identity, and faith.

Shurtape Technologies director of product marketing Kerry Haugh praised all finalists for their creativity and personal expression. The competition’s winners, including tuxedo category winner Nicholas Moore of Mooresville, North Carolina, were selected through a combination of public voting and contest judges. Each finalist will also get a prize for their work.
