Last Friday, police in Clearwater, Florida, rescued a kitten from a dangerously hot car where it had been left with only a small window cracked open while the heat index reached 102°F.
The kitten was safely removed, placed in an air-conditioned cruiser, and taken to a veterinarian for evaluation, where it was found to be in good condition. The car's owner is facing animal cruelty charges, and the authorities are using the incident to remind the public not to leave children or pets in hot vehicles.
