Is “ghost hunter” your dream job? Just in time to be a Halloween side hustle with a supernatural twist, a new contest is looking for a brave soul to spend a weekend investigating paranormal activity inside the legendary El Cortez Hotel & Casino, the oldest and possibly the most haunted hotel in Las Vegas.
If that’s not enough to scare you off and you think you’re up for the challenge, Casino.org is choosing one thrill-seeker for the job at this infamous spot, the longest-running hotel casino in Sin City. The El Cortez opened back in 1941 on the “Old Strip” and has seen everything from mobsters to murders and plenty of reported creepy things, and those phantom footsteps and shadowy figures are just what the contest is hoping their winner will find.
“We’re sending you to investigate, fully equipped with ghost-hunting gear, to see if the stories are true,” the contest listing reads. “The chosen ghost hunter will check in to the El Cortez for a haunted weekend stay, where you’ll explore the casino’s oldest and eeriest corners, searching for signs of ghostly activity.”
Explore the property, walk through the hotel halls, casino floors and areas rumored to be haunted.
Use ghost-hunting equipment, like EMF meters, EVP recorders and thermal sensors.
Capture evidence in photos or videos of anything spooky.
Report your findings, from the scary to the funny.
Applications are open now through Halloween at noon EST (You can apply here).
The winner will be notified within five days and will get paid $5-thousand when the task is complete and the findings are turned in.
