If you've got the house all covered in lights and are now thinking of spreading the same holiday cheer to your car, just know that doing so may put you on the naughty list — not with Santa, but with local police. While Christmas lights may look great and festive on your vehicle, it is against the law in every state to drive like that on public roads.
The only exception is for sanctioned holiday parades or other events. The reason for the ban is all about safety, of course. Driving around in a car covered in bright, flashy lights is extremely distracting to all other motorists. They can also obstruct brake lights or signals. So, if you want to decorate your ride, maybe just stick with those cute reindeer antlers.
