The story of 88-year-old Army veteran Ed Bambas has gone viral after the heartbreaking revelation that he works five days a week at a local grocery store to help make ends meet -- which inspired people to give Ed a boost with cash donations.
Ed was clocking in full-time at a Michigan supermarket because he lost his pension. When the Internet found out that he was still working -- thanks to Australian influencer Samuel Weidenhofer -- donations poured in to the tune of more than a million dollars.
The windfall is appreciated by Ed -- and was a total surprise. He said, “It came out of the clear blue. I really truly mean that."
