An anonymous philanthropist has been spreading holiday cheer in Avery County, North Carolina, by distributing $100 bills to those affected by Hurricane Helene. The Secret Santa, who gives away about $100-thousand every year, visited homes and businesses across the county, which was severely damaged by the hurricane. He explains that his goal is to offer a lifeline to those experiencing hardship, saying, “Maybe, we can give a little hope.”
One recipient of the Secret Santa's generosity was Jamie Guinn, who lost his wife, Melissa, when their home was destroyed by a mudslide. Jamie and their eight-year-old son were spared, but the widower sustained severe injuries in the incident. Secret Santa visited Jamie to deliver what he called "Secret Santa Dollars," providing not only financial support but also a reminder that he was not forgotten during this difficult time.
The Avery County Secret Santa believes kindness is "the bridge between all people – a bridge that can’t be burned, bombed, or washed away in a flood." Through his actions, he’s inspiring and uplifting people who need it most, offering a powerful message of care and connection.
