Police in Western North Carolina acted as "fur baby" sitters recently, taking care of a dog after its owner was involved in a car accident. A pic of Sergeant Geoff Hayes, with the Boone Police Department, walking Ollie, a poodle-mix, out of the town hall was posted on social media.

Ollie’s owner, Jackie Kent Leonard, had to be taken to the hospital after the accident, but she was worried about who would look after her pet. Deputies brought the dog to the police station to let Leonard rest, with Hayes and the town hall staff promising to take care of her pup for the day.

The post praises the officer, saying he "went above and beyond" in looking after Ollie, and says, "Sometimes 'Other duties as assigned' are the highlights of the day." Leonard later thanked the officers, writing, “Thank you Sergeant Hayes for taking care of our Ollie! You and all the other people who helped, blessed our family today!”
